A few days ago my wife posted a picture of a monument,standing tall in the Kyiv winter. This is one of the many memorials celebrating/commemorating the Second World War or "Great Patriotic War",as it is called in Russia and Ukraine. Millions of people died in Ukraine during the war as it was on the frontline. The armies of several different countries occupied Ukraine at one time or another. I think such places are a"must see"when in Kyiv.
