And so begins the process of my return to my "spiritual home", Japan. After several years away from the Hamamatsu area, I am planning to return in early September. I have had 2 brief visits back there over the last 6 years, but now is the time to head home. My brief "sojourn" overseas (from Japan) turned into a much longer stay than expected. However, in my experience, this is often the case. We often never know what is going to happen next in our lives, despite our best forward planning. Needless to say, I am looking forward to a new challenge and getting back on my feet again back in Hamamatsu, and also, it goes without saying, meeting up with old friends, colleagues and, of course, students.
