As one of these people,I often find it a little odd and uncomfortable.It almost feels as though,because I'm not ethnically from this country,and no matter how hard I try,I'll always be seen as an 'outsider'-and moreover we're often reminded of that. Personally speaking,my first encounter of this phenomenon took place at the 浜松南 high school 'marathon'. My Japanese was good enough to understand 2 teachers shouting at some of the boys,"Don't lose to the foreigner",rather than use,"Don't get beaten by Jon".
