Well, where do I start this weekend? I was going to talk about the EF referendum and "Brexit", but lets leave that for another time. The world certainly seems to be becoming a more dangerous place. Whether or not there are actually more terrorist attacks than a few years ago, I don't know. But I think the important point is the "perception" that are more atrocities taking place. I remember when I previously lived in Japan thinking it was like living in a bubble-protected and seemingly cut-off from the "dangers" of the outside world. I remember many times hearing "gaikoku ha kowai", and thinking, "is it really?" But, again, perceptions are important, especially in the age we live in these days with "blanket" 24-hour news coverage. Living here in the Middle East certainly gives one a different perspective and sometimes I feel I am caught between 2 worlds...
