Wow,what a weekend it has been. A weekend of complete contrasts. On Saturday night I kept a promise to my wife to go to the ballet with her at the National Opera Theatre of Ukraine. First of all,what an amazing building it is-the architecture is simply stunning! Then there was the price. My wife said that many years ago,when she saw the Kiev opera at her university in Tokyo,it cost around 20000 yen to watch just one act. Well,last night we saw three acts for just 20 Hryvnia (or about 200 yen). I have to admit I am not a huge fan of the "arts"in general. However,I do believe in always trying new things and I found the athletic ability,grace and poise of the dancers exquisite.
